My current project has kept me busy. I went to our weekly meetings yesterday and had to take the kids with me. They were not very happy to leave the television so early in the morning. They sat at the computers while we had the meeting so all was good.
The meeting finished early so I took a drive down Highway 90 but my plan to snap photographs ala tourists in the Gulf Coast was hindered because I spied a Biloxi police cruiser in the other lane, right next to me. Yes, I was seething because there weren't too many parkings spots along the coast and having the police cruiser on the road meant I could not do a drive by photo shooting business. Gah!
I handed my camera to the baby but she was too busy looking out the window to take any photos that did not include my head in front of her. But she did manage to snap a photo of the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi. It took forever for this building to finally finish. I think it opened to the public last month.
I was at the pool party at school yesterday. I went there very briefly and not too many people were there - considering it was Friday, hot and sunny. I guess people did not like hanging out by the pool. At any rate, the Student Activities Co-ordinator and I were chit chatting about swim suits. I told her I do not wear two pieces. I used to but not anymore. I just do not find two pieces very alluring. It is one of those things - you used to think that jeans were the ultimate cool but now you decided that tailored trousers are better. Maybe because of age or fashion or just the fact that your taste changed. Whatever the reason, she asked me how come I do not wear bikinis. I told her (and it is rather true) once you have a C-section,l nothing fits right anymore. She asked, "you have children?" I told her I have two. At that point, she almost died. I laughed.
So, eversince Katrina destroyed much of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, I lost everything that I used to take to the beach with me - beach bags, beach towels, swimsuits. I think I might even have lost a book I was reading at the time.
I have not replaced my swimsuit primarily because the beaches here aren't ready for us. Yet. Another reason is I cannot find one that I like or can even remotely wear - they are too big, too FUGLY or of the wrong colour. Mayhaps it is for the better - what with the threat of skin cancer, sand in your swimsuit (UGH) and the fact that I am bloody far away from the beach nowadays - mood killer indeed! I might try to find coconut scented candles for the house to get in the beach mood... ;)
The above is a random photo I found on my HD. I can't take photos this good. LOL.
